Bolton Rugby Club is getting a professional makeover thanks to the RFU’s Social Space Award of £10,000.00 awarded as part of England Rugby’s 2025 Impact Fund aligned with the Women’s Rugby World Cup later in the year.
With match funding the project is a £25,000 investment designed to give the club a modern makeover and a more welcoming feel for all the family.
Work has just begun in the 1872 Lounge which will see the existing bar size reduced and finished off in the same style as the main club lounge. The old corner TV will be replaced by a larger screen, the floor will be fully refurbished along with the bench seating and the furniture will be modernised. The lighting will be upgraded and the walls and ceiling painted. Elsewhere the stairwell lighting will be improved along with vinyl style wallpaper that will help tell the story of Bolton Rugby. The serving hatch adjacent to the rear ground floor doorway onto the pitches will also start and give us a sheltered way to serve refreshments on game and training days. We will also be replacing the heavy roller shutter door into the shed with a motorised version which all the coaches will be delighted with. In the pipeline we will be looking to refurbish the gents and ladies toilets in the 1872 lounge which when complete will give us a modern and welcoming room to socialise with our rugby family. During the work there will be minimal disruption but please bear with us until its complete.
