It was a glorious Saturday lunchtime in North Wales where the assembled spectators were treated to a full on game of MA rugby - brilliant play on display all afternoon from both sides.
The sunshine must have brought out the best in returning Buccaneers legend Mark Down as he expertly sailed a crossfield kick into the arms of Benny Evans to cross the try line.
This early score gave the travelling Buccaneers the drive to kick on with further tries from Matty Brennan and Henry (on loan from Stingrays) and another two from Benny Evans for his hat trick. Skipper, Spencer Rowbotham scored a spectacular try after what was probably a 10m sprint (he said 40m) capped off with a dive over the line (he said graceful swallow dive).
Stellar performances all round for the Buccaneers with the try of the match being Matty Brennan’s jinking run round the Stingrays defensive lines with a couple of steps thrown in.
After the full blooded 80 minutes of senior rugby, the spectators were treated to a game of touch with a mix of the seniors from both teams with juniors boys and girls and players from the Stingrays Women’s team. Lots of smiles on faces and fun fast and friendly rugby.
Then all back to the clubhouse to watch Wales vs Ireland in the six nations and a few beers. A few of the hardiest Buccaneers stayed over to sample the local nightlife with the Stingrays.
Huge thank you as ever for the warmth and hospitality from Colwyn Bay Stingrays MAR - this has become a special fixture in the hearts of both clubs. Brilliant day for both teams and as always, MA rugby was the real winner ?☠️?????????
