Well the sun shone at Avenue Street on Saturday for our first game of the season against our good friends Halifax Magpies Mixed Ability Rugby. As always, these games are hard fought and evenly matched and the Buccaneers took an early score from James Broxton.
The game ebbed and flowed with some brilliant teamwork on display from both sides. MARIs call up, Matt Taylor capped a vintage performance with a fine try.
Lots of notable performances from the Buccaneers with Karl Jacques, Ben Evans, Tom Bramwell, Charlie Walton and Kieran Broxton standing out.
As the game wore on the Buccaneers just edged the points. The main take from the day was the spirit in which the game was played and the genuine warmth between the two sides.
Hats off to the Buccaneers that went on to play for Bolton 3rds immediately after the game #legends.
